About Me

Hi, Diane Merriam here!

I put together this bio for one reason.
Why?

Because the emails I read regularly are from
people that I feel I know personally.

I know that eMails from strangers often just
sit as digital dust bunnies in your inbox!

Look, you know that information alone isn’t
all you need to help you succeed with
online marketing. Why? Because there’s
way too much of it. Information overload.
So besides getting information, you need to
be able to get that information from a
reliable source.

In other words…
Someone you know, like and trust!

What I realized was that when I’d get on an
eMail list, I’d usually wind up unsubscribing
simply because I didn’t know them or have
any particular reason to read what they had
to say compared with the zillions of others
who were also bombarding me with eMails.
To me, they were nothing more than a
name on my computer screen.

Who was the person behind the name?
What did they stand for and against? Why
are they in internet marketing? What’s their
story?

So I’d like to let you know a little bit about
me, so I’m not just another name on your
screen. I am doing it because I really feel I
have some really good strategies that could
change your life, and I am going to do
everything I can to get you to read about
them, and more importantly…

Act on them!

Knowledge without action is worthless.

I wrote my first computer program in 1970,
so I’ve been around computers for a LONG
time. I started selling on line in late 1999 as
an eBay power seller, selling jewelry and
jewelry making supplies and tools and doing
quite well at it. Then 9/11 hit and,for
whatever reason, the bottom dropped out
of the business. Even a year later I was only
back to half of what I had previously been
doing. Then I started competing against
direct importers. Needless to say, that
killed the rest of it.

So I became a professional jeweler and sold
my own jewelry through a peddler’s
mall. Then my back went out. Then it went
out again. Combination birth defect and
accident. Even after major surgery there
are many days where 5 minutes on my feet
is about all I can take. But, since before the
surgery there were times I couldn’t even
crawl, I’ll take the 5 minutes Smile Just letting
you know that if what I write sometimes
sounds a little loopy, it’s probably because I
am.

Back to the computer, but this time in an
avenue that rarely depends on deadlines
and even the few of those are generally
ones I set for myself. Information. I grew up
in a sales oriented family so I’ve got a good
background soaked in from the start.

Should be simple right?

I tried a lot of things. I started with
Squidoo and AdWords because one of the
first eBooks I got was how to sell things by
writing ads on Google AdWords. It sounded
so easy! NOT!!!

But I was hooked…

I signed up with a bunch of commission
sales programs and start writing ads. The
first one was for bonzai trees. I wrote an
article about it that I got accepted into
eZine articles and I thought I was doing
everything right, just wait for the sales to
come rolling in.

Not a one did. So I tried the weight loss
market. Everyone wants to lose weight it
seems. HUGE market. Still nothing.
Obviously there’s more to this online
marketing stuff than I thought.

So I started signing up for training courses
and got a whole alphabet soup of things to
learn. SEO (search engine optimization),
HTML (writing my own web pages) and the
CSS (fancy formatting) to make them look
better. Long Tail Keywords. Google
Analytics. Affiliate Marketing, Clickbank.

I was spending money I didn’t have because
I was bound and determined that I would
somehow, somewhere find the right
combination of programs and information
that would make me rich. But the bills
were piling up and my disability wasn’t
enough to cover it.

I should have just invested it in the lottery.
I probably would have made more and I
couldn’t have made less.

So I quit. I had to.

Not quit trying to make it but quit looking
for the magic combination that was going
to make me a guaranteed nice living within
30 days or 3 months, even if it wasn’t as a
millionaire. I realized I was going to have
to (shudder) work at it. I was going to have
to stop jumping from one program to the
next every few weeks. I was going to have
to take the time and put in the effort to
actually create a business.

It finally started working. No thousand
dollar paydays but I finally had my first $50
day. Then the first $100 day.

What was the secret? There wasn’t one. It
took time and effort and for me to stop
looking for the magic quick buck. The
basics are quite simple. Not always easy,
but simple:

*You have to find out what people want,
*A way to get it to them,
*At a price that you can both agree on and
*A way for you and them to find each other

Every sale ever made in any market at any
time has these basics at the root.

I used to have trouble getting out of bed in
the morning. I’d blame it on pain, but it
was actually that I didn’t want to face
another day of failure. Now I’m usually up
before the alarm even goes off.

I’ve always loved teaching people who
want to learn and I can do that now.

I’ve always wished someone would put
together the information that people like
me who CAN’T get out to a regular j.o.b.
(for whatever reason) could use to be
financially independent. That someone will
be me.

Do I have all the answers? No. Can I make
you an instant millionaire? Nope!

What I CAN do is to point out a path to
take and help you over some of the
inevitable bumps along the way.

My hand is out, but you have to take that
first step on your own.

See you on the other side,
Diane Merriam
